We are a non-profit, volunteer run practice swim team that aims to provide connection, direction, and team culture for adult lifesaving sport athletes in the Calgary area. Both of our coaches are experienced lifesaving sport athletes who are enthusiastic to share and help grow the sport.

Who are the Serpents?
Joel is a lifelong lifesaving sport athlete that has
competed at both the national and
international stage. He represented team
Canada at the 2019 World lifesaving festival in
Leeds.

Carys has 13 years of lifesaving sport experience
and has enjoyed a long competitive career. In
addition to Lifesaving sport, she has keen
interest and training in kinesiology and
pedagogy.

The YYC Serpents Team is Calgary’s only program dedicated to masters lifesaving athletes, providing a supportive, competitive, and community-driven environment for adults looking to refine their skills, stay active, and grow in the sport. As a non-profit, volunteer-run team, we foster connection, direction, and team culture through experienced coaching, collaboration, and shared passion for lifesaving sport. The YYC Serpents welcome and support both newcomers to the sport and experienced athletes alike, encouraging teamwork, mentorship, and continual improvement of swimming and lifesaving knowledge.
That being said, the YYC Serpents are committed to maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive environment where all athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters uphold our core values of Respect, Safety, Inclusivity, Excellence, Leadership, and Service.

have an opportunity to compete as affiliate athletes with the Okotoks
